Joy Srinivasan

Chairperson and Managing Trustee

Joy is the founder and leading change agent at Makkala Jagriti. Currently the chairperson, she deeply believes that every child from poor settlement background has tremendous potential, which has to be nurtured through the right opportunities. For close to three decades she has walked along with such children and young adults guiding them in unraveling their strengths and potential. This belief inspired her to start Makkala Jagriti in 2003 to create a social movement and continues to drive her vision and mission for the organization.

With over two decades of work experience across corporate, development sector & leadership training within India & Abroad, she is an accredited professional member of ISABS - Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Scinece, certified participant in Group Relations Conference at Tavistock - UK & Certified Womens work leadership trainer in the USA.


G Viswanath


Viswanath (Vish) works as a consultant for organisational development, and as a trainer in behavioural science. His core purpose is to help people realize their true potential and his association with Makkala Jagriti is an extension of it.

Viswanath has been the Founding Director of Organisations & Alternatives Consulting Pvt. Ltd., for over 19 years now. He has been a regular with the Montessori movement, working with institutions in both Chennai and Bangalore. His respect for children's potential and perspectives towards life, motivate him to be a part of Makkala Jagriti. He strongly believes in understanding the children’s perspective from their point of view.


Rangarajan Padmanabhan

Board Member

Rangarajan (Ranga) supports our activities around fund raising, communications, and networking. This is his first exposure to the social sector, and he is keen on learning from us and enabling our mission of holistic development of children.

Ranga is currently part of the executive team at RubanBridge, a start-up focused on building the last mile platform for rural commerce and he is also an active angel investor. Prior to this he was part of the founding team at Appnomic Systems, where he played many roles in the start-up to the growth phase of the company. A management graduate from SP Jain Institute of Management, Mumbai, and an engineering graduate from BITS, Pilani, he brings a strong record of delivering value and innovation to clients.

Murali M.

Chief Functionary

Murali comes with over 17 years of experience in the education sector. Having come from the grassroot level, Murali has played multiple roles managing multiple teams and has quickly grown to lead the organization.

He is passionate about making quality education accessible to all children, irrespective of their backgrounds. He exhibits strong leadership qualities with commitment, responsibility, driven by a strong passion to change the lives of children and the community.


Sunayana Chatrapathy

Deputy Director, Programmes

Sunayana holds a B.E and MBA from reputed colleges and has worked in the corporate for over seven years playing multiple roles as HR manager and an engineer. Her passion for social causes motivated her to jump to the development sector. A former Youth for India fellow, she brings multi-talent and exciting new ideas to her role and beyond.


Aravind M. S.

Manager, Networking and Communication

Aravind holds a M.Sc in Disaster Management from TISS. He comes with nearly 7 years experience in corporate and has worked on exciting projects on smart cities and Learning Management software. He now heads the youth projects in Makkala Jagriti and his coworkers have always vouched for his sincerity and hardwork.


Das Antoni

Program Manager, ECCE

Antoni had found his true calling quite early on when he founded a volunteer-based organisation during his engineering days. When he found that an IT job was not really his passion, he went on to do his masters in Development from Azim Premji university. He now manages the Early Childhood programme and is excited to take it to great heights.



Program Manager, HDLC

Thanuja, having completed her B.Ed, has been associated with Non profit organisations working in the Education sector instead of being a teacher in mainstream education. She inspires the team with her passion and enthusiasm and is always seen bubbling with energy.



Program Manager, Yuva Jagriti

Shoaib is leading the youth programs in Makkala Jagriti. He has a wide range of experience in the education space. He has deeply worked at the grassroots level with children and communities during his teach for India Fellowship. He has also founded Canasu Dream Foundation which focuses on creating sustainable communities . He is an extremely passionate person and is living his dream, and is working on creating an equitable society for all.


Nanje Gowda

Deputy Manager, Operations

Nanje Gowda brings good experience from other non-profits, and supports the operations of Makkala Jagriti. He seamlessly manages the operations of all the centres and ensures their smooth functioning every single day.



Deputy Manager,School Program

Ronita, is the Deputy Manager of our school Programmes . Her passion for children led her to pursue her masters in Social Work . She has an indepth understanding of the education system in India and has worked closely with children, during her teaching experience with Teach for India. She is a down to earth individual , who is dedicated towards creating a positive impact in the lives of children.
